David Sedaris once shared that his editor called the title of his collection of essays, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, “willfully obtuse.”
This election has been difficult – on our country and on our relationships. It’s a natural instinct shut down those that don’t agree with us. Unfortunately, we can never heal or grow from that place. But it this is a time for boundaries. Understanding what yours are is the starting point to enforcing them, and to moving forward.
This morning, an Instagram ad for a Halloween T-shirt caught my eye. (When did Halloween get so gory, anyway?) Something else about it grabbed me, though. If you’ve ever worked with a coach, chances are the person you started as is somewhat different than the one you grew into. It’s also likely that the first […]
I was eleven when my (great) Uncle Henry died. He was a smallish guy with a Brooklyn accent who always had his hands in his pockets and a scratch sheet folded under his arm. He said everything with a smile and a shrug and always repeated the end of the sentence a couple of times. […]

In […]
There are a number of changes occurring in my life right now. Some, I’ve sought out; others have been knocking – harder and harder – at my door. Maybe you’ve experienced that too? The knocking is quiet at first. Often, it’s just an uneasy feeling somewhere in the body when certain subjects or circumstances present […]
I was at an event last night where three different women took to the stage to tell us that when they reframed the way they saw themselves, they radically changed their lives. If you’ve worked on yourself at all, you recognize the importance of what you tell yourself (and as a result, the rest of […]
Are you more confident than you were when you were younger? Are you less? If you answered YES to both you’re not alone. There are, in fact, very legitimate reasons for “feeling more confident and comfortable in (your) own skin” one minute, and wondering “what happened to my confidence – why am I constantly getting in […]
