3 Step to Creating Transformation

Those of you who follow me on social media know that I’ve been talking about transformation quite a bit lately.

Through my many conversations on the topic over the past few weeks, it’s become clear that there is a common misconception.

I’d like to debunk it here and now.

Transformation doesn’t always need to rise from the ashes.

We hear dramatic stories about people, broken open by tragedy, who have come back like a Phoenix – stronger, brighter, and new.

Those stories are inspiring, of course, but we can’t really relate. We want the transformation, but not the circumstances that created it.

Yet most transformations don’t happen that way at all. Ordinary people, under ordinary circumstances, can (and do) transform their lives every day.

How?

By listening in.

It’s in those small moments – when everything is technically OK, yet you feel hollow or lost – that transformation is calling.

It’s in the instant, just before you dismiss your inner yearning as impractical, that you have a chance to begin to pivot your life.

Transformation doesn’t require drama.

It doesn’t require throwing away the parts of your life you love.

It simply needs to be acknowledged, to be nurtured…

…and usually, it needs a little kick in the butt.

This Week:
Tap in to Yearning

For this week’s work, you’ll draw on the power of presence, which you’ve learned by practicing mindfulness, to tap in to what you yearn for in your life.

  1. NOTICE the moments when you feel hollow or stuck. Lean in to the feeling rather than dismissing it. What is that you’re longing for?

  2. NOTICE the moments when you feel energized or fully alive. What are you doing or thinking about?

  3. ACT intentionally. This isn’t about some big, crazy push. It’s about playing with new actions, behaviors, thoughts, and experiences that feel in alignment with what you yearn for. It’s about doing more of the sorts of things that light you up. Baby steps. Every. Single. Day.

Easy peasy.
